Paul H. Bridgeman — Hansen-Spear

Paul H. Bridgeman, age 93, of Quincy, died on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at 2:40 p.m. in Good Samaritan Home.
Paul was born on June 3, 1931 in Quincy, a son of Cecil and Edith Prante Bridgeman. On April 24, 1954 he married Betty J. Sedelmeier in Quincy. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2012.
Paul was a 1949 graduate of Quincy High School, and he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Paul had been employed by Quincy Herald Whig as a printer for 44 years until his retirement.
Paul was a longtime Boy Scout Leader with St. Peter School Pack #5, where he helped guide and mentor young scouts. He had a passion for raising show rabbits and spent many years dedicated to the hobby. Paul also enjoyed fishing and was an avid player in men’s fast pitch softball leagues. He was actively involved with the Men’s Full Gospel Association. Paul had been a member of Knights of Columbus Council 583.
Survivors include four children: Todd (Jessica) Bridgeman of West Fork, AR, Kevin (Karen) Bridgeman of Quincy, Lori (Daryl) Black of Summerville, GA, and Robin Bridgeman of Greenback, TN; ten grandchildren: Angela (Shawn) Guffey of Port Charlotte, FL, John (Brittany) Bridgeman of Knoxville, TN, Kameron (Amber) Bridgeman of Quincy, Katelea Bridgeman of Quincy, Jared (Elizabeth) Bridgeman of Chesterfield, MO, Jordan (Megan) Bridgeman of Fowler, IL, Justin (Heather) Bridgeman of Quincy, Ashley Brammer of Palmetto, FL, Brittany Brammer of Parrish, FL, and Shawna (Sean) Holmes of Lenoir City, TN; 20 great-grandchildren: Rebekah Rigsby; Amelia Guffey, Hannah Guffey, Riley Guffey, Xander Guffey, Brayden Holmes, Tristan Holmes, Bonnie Bridgeman, Freya Bridgeman, Charly Nicholson, Eleanor Bridgeman, Adalyn Bridgeman, Nolan Bridgeman, Emma Bridgeman, Brooklyn Bridgeman, Kayden Bridgeman, Henry Bridgeman, Lydia Bridgeman, Lane Tietsort, and Alex Tietsort; a sister, Sandra Batista of FL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Bridgeman; a granddaughter, Kara Bridgeman; a sister, Carlene Whitefield; and five brothers: Loren “Bud” Bridgeman, Floyd Bridgeman, Everett Bridgeman, Glenn Bridgeman, and Wayne Bridgeman.
Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, IL with Rev. Matt Riley officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 37 and the United States Army Funeral Honors Detail.
