Homer D. Feltes — O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home

Homer D. Feltes, 74, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his home in Quincy, IL.
Homer was born December 4, 1950, in Jacksonville, IL to Homer A. and Ruth (Long) Feltes. He was married to Betty Ann Chase on December 15, 1979, in Quincy, IL. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2015.
Survivors include his seven children, Robert Bouchez, Richard Bouchez, (Rochelle), Patricia Cane (Donald), Bonita Meyers, John Coram, Jerry Coram (Debbie), and Homer Feltes Jr. (Ashley); nine grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Coram, Jamie Buss, Dusty Meyers, Tina Meyers, Aaron Meyers (Kiala), Rebecca Bouchez (Junior), Kadin Feltes, Quentin Feltes, and Ryan Bouches; one sister, Donna Heather; one brother, Rick Feltes (Laura); and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Homer was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one uncle, Fred Feltes; one cousin, Jim Feltes; and two aunts, Gertrude Feltes and Florence Feltes.
After graduating from Quincy High School in 1968 and furthering his education at Quincy Vocational School, he became the plant manager at Tuscarora Foam Plastics Plant, where he served for 26 years, and later at Foam Air Inc for 8 years before his well-deserved retirement. His work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industry.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Homer was a man of service. He volunteered tirelessly for the Salvation Army, contributing to disaster services, organizing kettle drives, renovating homes for those in need, and leading the Boy Scouts troop his son was part of.
Homer’s passions were as vast as the great outdoors he loved to explore. An avid fisherman, he found solace in the tranquil waters of the north bottoms, rivers, and ponds, whether by boat or on land. His adventures also included frogging and turtling, activities that brought him closer to nature. Hunting and trapping were also among his interests, as was camping, where he enjoyed creating memories at Cedar Lakes with his family.
A man of simple pleasures, Homer relished in playing cards, watching Westerns, and listening to old country music. His love for travel took him to places like Estes Park, CO, and across the states to visit family and bring home a trunk full of Wisconsin cheese. Yet, it was the time spent with family and friends that Homer treasured most. He was the master of gathering loved ones for barbecues, fish fries, and cookouts, creating moments that would become cherished memories. Homer’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever be a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing him.
