Hannibal man charged with vehicular hijacking, weapon possession by felon in Pike County

HULL, Ill. — A Hannibal man is in the Pike County Jail as he faces gun and hijacking charges.
Pike County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded at 12:22 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, to a report of a stolen vehicle from Illinois Route 106, west of Hull. During the initial Investigation, deputies discovered that during the theft of the vehicle, a firearm was brandished.
The stolen vehicle was entered into a database and later located by the Quincy Police Department. Officers from the Quincy Police Department took the driver, Corey L. Roth, 36, of Hannibal, Mo., into custody.
Roth was transported to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, where he was later charged with:
- Aggravated vehicular hijacking
- Unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon
- Intimidation
- Possession of a certificate of title without complete assignment
- Aggravated assault
- Driving while license is revoked
PIke County Sheriff David Greenwood said in a press release that the investigation into the incident is continuing, and further charges may be pending.
