QU Symphonic Band spring concert set for Sunday afternoon at Connie Niemann Center
QUINCY — The Quincy University Symphonic Band will perform a spring concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, in the Connie Niemann Center for Music, 17th and Seminary Road.
The concert will feature a new work by composer Alex Shapiro that features an audio track accompaniment to the band parts. This requires the use of a click track for the conductor and audio equipment to relay the sounds to both the band members and the audience, presenting a modern performance challenge. Music education major Raven Sweeney will conduct a piece of the concert.
The QU Symphonic Band is under the direction of Bill Machold, assistant professor of music and director of bands.
