Fatal crash Saturday morning on Ill. 57
ADAMS COUNTY – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reports an accident Saturday morning between a FedEx semi-truck and a passenger car has resulted in a death.
The crash occurred just after 5:30 a.m. at 6000 Gardner Expressway (Ill. 57), near the FedEx Freight facility.
Adams County Coroner Scott Graham reports that Jeremiah D. Engle, 28, of Hannibal, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries as the reported driver and sole occupant of the automobile involved in the crash.
As of Saturday morning, Ill. 57 was closed between the South 12th exit and Turtle Lake Road.
The Illinois State Police crash reconstruction team is investigating.
Along with ISP and ACSO, Tri-Township Fire, IDOT and Adams County Ambulance also responded.
