Two from Monroe City among 33 injured in shuttle bus crash near Hermann on Saturday

HERMANN, Mo. — A shuttle bus crash along Missouri Route 100 west of Eagles Nest Drive in Gasconade County injured 33 people Saturday morning. Two of the passengers were from Monroe City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash happened at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. A westbound 2000 Freightliner M Line shuttle bus veered off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected, and the bus traveled off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.

The bus was totaled and towed from the scene. Multiple troopers, deputies and emergency responders from several counties assisted at the crash site.

The 45-year-old man driving the bus, from Hermann, Missouri, was flown by air ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia. None of the 32 passengers were wearing seat belts. All were injured and transported to area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries. A 64-year-old woman from Monroe City suffered minor injuries, and a 68-year-old man from Monroe City suffered moderate injuries.
