Doris Jean Provow – Hansen-Spear

Doris Jean Provow, age 97, of Quincy, died on Monday, May 12, 2025, at her home.

Jean was born August 18, 1927, in Hayti, Missouri. She was the daughter of Buck Hannan and Pearl Mae Rowan DeWeese. She graduated from Hayti High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. On January 3, 1948, she married Charles O. Provow in Hayti, MO and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2001.

Jean enjoyed playing couples golf and playing with the Nine Hole club at Westview. She was a member of The Crossing church.
She was a loving spouse and mother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include: a daughter, Marsha Lyn (Craig) Miller of Montgomery, AL; a son, Tom (Sandy) Provow of College, Grove, TN; six grandchildren, Zackery Moore of Mobile, AL, Blake Moore of Montgomery, AL, Scott Moore of Austin, TX, Mitchell Provow of Quincy, Spencer Provow of Murfreesboro, TN, Abi Graves of College Grove, TN. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Keith Provow, three brothers, Hassell, H. M., and Buddy DeWeese, and four sisters, Mary Chaffin, Mildred Price, Helen Greenwell, and Jackie Mankin.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Greenmount Cemetery. Pastor Jim Dennis will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Crossing Church or Westview Golf Course.
