LEWISTOWN, Mo. — A Lewistown man was arrested Sunday for failing to register as a sex offender and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.

A Lewis County Sheriff’s Department deputy conducted a sex offender compliance check on May 11 on Loren P. Wallace, 43. The reason for the compliance check was to determine if Wallace had a Facebook account that was not reported to the sheriff’s department. During the investigation, the deputy observed Wallace attempting to delete the Facebook app from his phone. He was then taken into custody.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department sought official charges through Prosecuting Attorney Chelsea Fellinger, who applied for a warrant. Judge Corey Moon issued the warrant on May 12. Wallace is charged with one count of failing to register as a sex offender and one count of tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, both Class E felonies.

Wallace was released after posting bond.
