Hannibal Arts Council Art Adventure on June 6 to focus on ancient art of batik for grades K-5

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main, continues Art Adventures, its creative project series, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 6. The June Art Adventure is a creative project for grades K-5. Participation registration includes all supplies, an instructor and step-by-step instructions.

Students will unleash their creativity and craft their designs using a masking and dying technique. To start this artistic journey, they’ll discover the ancient art of batik, a technique that’s been around for centuries. Then, they’ll design and create their own folk art batik masterpiece.

Funding assistance for HAC youth programs is provided by General Mills Hometown Grantmaking Program, George H. Riedel Private Foundation, Community Foundation of West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. Additional support comes from the Jesse David Cox Memorial Fund and HAC Program Scholarship Fund donors.
