Allen “Kent” Stockton
Allen “Kent” Stockton, 95, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Home.
Kent was born December 12, 1928, in Quincy, IL to Allen and Marie (Kent) Stockton. Kent graduated from Quincy High School in 1946, then enlisted in the U.S. Airforce. He served in Morocco during the Korean War. Upon his return, he enrolled in Quincy College and graduated with an associate degree. He was married to Janet Thrasher on May 28, 1955.
Kent was a draftsman first for Gardner Denver in Quincy and then worked for Klingner and Associates for 36 years retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was active in the Men’s Brotherhood and served on the Church Council. He and Janet were members of the Salem Couple’s Club.
Kent loved to fish, bowl, golf, travel with Janet, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Kent was preceded in death by his wife; Janet, his parents; his sister, Lois Jean Humke; sisters in-law, Marylyn Mock and her husband Howard, and Maxine Hawk and her husband Bill; one niece, Becky Humke; and one nephew, Tom Mock.
Kent is survived by his four children, Nancy Schodroski (Bill) of Quincy, Jeff Stockton (Judy) of Macomb, Lisa Potts (Bill) of Dacono, CO, and Scot Stockton (Melissa) of Summerville, SC. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Will Schodroski, Maggie Kistner, Elizabeth Terwelp (Tanner), all of Quincy, Jonathan Stockton (Hannah) of Orion, IL, Jade Eckstein (Colin) of St. Peters, MO, Savannah Stockton and Faith Stockton of Summerville, SC; plus his great-grandchildren, Emmy Kistner, Daxton Kistner, Linus Terwelp, Cooper Stockton, Haley Stockton, Skyler Eckstein, and Grayson Eckstein; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and Family are invited to Kent’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Friday, April 12, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Memorial Service will follow at 10:00 am with Pastor Matt Hunt officiating. Inurnment will be at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL.
