Bonya was born on October 20, 1965 in Quincy, a daughter of Richard and Bonnie Lee Littleton Tomlinson.

Bonya was a 1983 graduate of Quincy High School. She had been employed by the Quincy Police Department as an officer for a couple of years during the late 1990s. Bonya was a passionate animal lover whose life was dedicated to their care and well-being. She spent much of her career working at Inet, where she specialized in breeding and caring for pigs. As the owner and operator of Paw Palace, she gained a reputation for breeding some of the finest miniature dachshunds, attracting clients from around the globe. Her commitment to the animals she cared for was unmatched, and over the years, she also opened her heart and home to countless rescue animals, providing them with love and care.
