Carl Melbert “Meb” Wollbrink of Quincy, formerly of Ursa, went to be with his Lord and Savior on 11/26/2024. Meb was born 11/6/33 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, the son of Marvin and Louise (Beeler) Wollbrink. He married Marjorie Wemhoner Wollbrink on 11/6/1954, she survives; from this marriage, 3 children were born – Karen Seals of Montgomery, IL, Janet Bent of Quincy and Mark Wollbrink of Ursa; he married Joy Ann Seals Wollbrink (deceased) on 3/6/1974; Barbara Wooldridge Wollbrink (deceased) on 9/19/1998 and Judith Gaus Wollbrink on 5/14/2005, she survives.

Meb was an active member of Madison Park Christian Church during which time a group from church went to Jerusalem where he was baptized in the Jordan River. Meb loved the Lord and he tried his best to raise his family up in the Church and to follow Christ.

Meb was a graduate of Warsaw High School and Gem City Business College. He served in the Army during the Korean War working in the Pentagon. After the service, Meb worked at Moorman’s for 13 years, then started his own construction business installing field tile while building houses, apartment buildings, developed three subdivisions and the Ursa Park. Meb said, “it wasn’t me, it was God working through me”. In his younger years, Meb enjoyed tractor pulling throughout IL, MO, IA, and KY. He also enjoyed woodworking, camping, travelling and devoted much of his time to the Ursa Lions Club and Lamoine Christian Camp. He was also Director of North Adams Nursing Home and on the Board of Directors at North Adams State Bank in Ursa for several years. Meb always had a “project”. He made a replica of Henry Ford’s 1st car, a 3-wheel diesel trike, and the “BIG” wheel along with several other items.

Survivors are: his wife/soulmate, Judith; his children, Karen Seals, Janet Bent, Mark Wollbrink; 2 step-children, Phil Gaus and Elaine Gaus; grandchildren, Chad Seals (Tina Peters), Craig Seals, Jason Seals (Shana Sparks), Jill (Tony) Dunker, Ellie Voth, James (Danielle) Voth, John (Crystal) Gaus, Chris (Lindsey) Gaus, Tawney Hash (Josh West); twenty great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Meb was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Ronnie, Dale, Leland, Onie, and Elvin; son in-law, Joe Anderson; daughter-in-law, Nancy Gaus; great grandson, Brandon Benjamin; & great granddaughter, Carolyn Gaus.

Visitation: Monday, 12/2/2024, 4 – 7 pm at O’Donnell-Cookson Funeral Home

Service: Tuesday, 12/3/2024, at Madison Park Christian Church at 11:00 am with visitation prior to from 10 – 11 am; interment to follow at Ursa New Providence Cemetery.
