Carol J. Lawber, age 85, of Quincy, died on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 12:10 a.m. in Quincy Healthcare and Senior Living.

Carol was born on October 28, 1938 in Fowler, IL, a daughter to Clarence and Hazel Smith Gooding. On January 19, 1957 she married Joseph E. Lawber in Quincy. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2005.

Carol enjoyed reading novels and working on word search puzzles. She was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters: Pamela (Steven) Demoss of Quincy and Carla (Gary) Harper of Palmyra, IL; six grandchildren: Brandon Miller, Kayla Ritchie, Amber DeMoss, Devin Harper, Dalton Harper, and Tanner Harper; ten great-grandchildren; two nephews: Thomas (Lori) Edmondson and Dennis (Rose) Brockschmitt; and four nieces: Susan (Jeff) Harper, Penny (Steve) Obert, Linda Coons, and Janet Neese.

In addition to her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters: Veta Durst, Phyllis Blivens, Catherine Gooding, and Laverta Gooding.

Inurnment: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL.

Services: Carol’s family will host a celebration of her life at the Elks Lodge #100 (311 N 2nd St, Quincy, IL 62301) on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
