Cindy Lu Rhea — Hansen-Spear

Cindy Lu Rhea, age 68, of Quincy, died Monday, June 2, 2025, at 2:50 am in Blessing Hospital.
Cindy was born June 29, 1956, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Shirley E. Poore Meyer. She married Dick “Bigfoot” Rhea on August 30, 1975, in Trinity United Church of Christ in Quincy. He survives.
Cindy was a 1974 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. She went to work at W.T. Grant where she met the love of her life, Dick Rhea. Cindy was an amazing mother to her two daughters, staying home to nurture them until they started school. With her children gone during the day, she went to work at Dewey School as a para educator. Her caring, motherly nature, made her a perfect fit at Dewey. She had an uncanny ability to sense which children needed her guidance and compassion the most.
In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed crafting of all kinds, making clothing, and diamond painting. Her skills were unmatched in the art of die-cutting, she created countless works of stunning artistry.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Dick, include: her father, Harold Meyer of Quincy, two daughters, Misty (Dale) Holt, and Lindsey Rhea, both of Quincy; three grandchildren, Kalob (Lexi Cook) Lowary, Peyton Bliven, and Kennady Koenig; three great grandchildren, whom she cherished very much and loved to spoil, Leyden, Kali, and Kaysen Lowary; two sisters, Cheri (Norm) Meyer and Candace (Steven) Reilly, both of Quincy; and two faithful canine companions, Baer and Cruze.
