Cynthia A. ‘Cindy’ Brown – Duker & Haugh

Cynthia A. ‘Cindy’ Brown, age 53, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on December 21, 1970 in Quincy, the daughter of John and Betty (Franklin) Ley. Cindy received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Western Illinois University and her Masters Degree from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. She married David Edward Brown on July 7, 2001 in St. Peter Catholic Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2023.

Cindy began her teaching career at St. Peter Catholic School. She then later taught at Baldwin Elementary School. Cindy then later returned to teach at St. Peter Catholic School. Throughout the years, many of her students told Cindy of the lasting impact she had on them. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and watching the activities of her children.

Cindy is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Parker Brown, Braden Brown, Kaitlyn Brown and Lydia Brown all of Quincy.
HER PARENTS: John and Betty Ley of Quincy.
SIBLINGS: John and Peggy Ley of Quincy, Brian and Amy Ley of Havana, IL, and Eric and Krisha Ley of Quincy.
SISTER-IN-LAW: Chris (Jerry) Hanlin of Quincy.
Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Cindy was also preceded in death by a nephew Austin Hermann.

Services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 9:45 AM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Brown Children Education Fund, St. Anthony Parish or to Quincy Notre Dame.
