Dena Kay Weyand — Hansen-Spear

Dena Kay Weyand, age 62, of Ursa, died on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 9:28 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.

Dena was born on January 13, 1963, a daughter of Willard and Nancy Miller Schuttler. In 1983 she married Robert Logsdon. The couple raised their two children in Mt. Sterling. On September 8, 2018 she married James “Jim” Weyand in Ursa. He survives.

Dena was a 1981 graduate of Quincy High School. She had worked as the assembly lead at Gates Air for many years.

Dena had a love for gardening and spent many quiet hours tending to her plants and flowers. She also enjoyed collecting lighthouses, drawn to their symbolism and simple beauty.

In the early 2000s, she was often found at the ball field or court, cheering on her son’s basketball team and her daughter’s softball games. Watching them play was something she truly enjoyed.

Later in life, her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren. Whether it was a weekend visit or a simple afternoon together, those moments meant everything to her.

In addition to her husband, Jim, survivors include two children: Shaune (Michael) McDaniel and Anthony (Kember) Logsdon; five grandchildren: Allex and Julie McDaniel and Logan, Corbin, and Tyson Logsdon; her mother, Nancy Schuttler; a brother, Lance Schuttler; and her lifelong friend and confidant, Lisa Barnes.

Dena was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Julie Schuttler Hallstrom.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Lutheran Church of St. John with Pastor Steve Hayden officiating.
