Donald L. Wiemelt — Duker & Haugh
Donald L. Wiemelt, age 75, of Quincy, died on Monday, January 13, 2025, in Blessing Hospital. He was born on July 8, 1949, in Quincy, the son of Richard and Loretta (Bordewick) Wiemelt. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He married Janice Deters on July 25, 1970. She survives.
Don worked at Knapheide Manufacturing for over 36 years. Don was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and a former long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, WCU and Machinist Local 822, and president of the Machinists Local 822 retirees group. Don liked watching professional sports and was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. Over the years, Don volunteered to cook at countless church and other community events. He also loved to play cards.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Keith Wiemelt, Donny Wiemelt, Chris Wiemelt (Jennifer) and Andrew Wiemelt (Kiara) all of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Natalie Wiemelt, Guil Wiemelt, Trevor, Ethan and Eva Wiemelt; Garrett, Isaac, Elaina and Avery Drew; Vincent and Wade Wiemelt.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Guil and Zaylen
SISTERS: Mary Ann Moore and Betty Crim (Jim).
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 9:30 am in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Ulmus Academy, the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the St. Francis Food Pantry. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
