Dorothy Irene Wright – Hansen-Spear

Dorothy Irene Wright, age 87, of Quincy, died Monday, January 6, 2025, in her home.

Dorothy was born on July 25, 1937, in Clayton, IL, the daughter of Milbert A. and Wilma L. Daggett Faler. She married Richard G. Wright on May 28, 1955, in Quincy. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2014.

Dorothy was a 1955 graduate of Quincy High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at McDonald Stove Company. She attended Union United Methodist Church in Quincy. Dorothy and Richard enjoyed camping, square dancing, and traveling. They were members of the Traveling Trompers Camping Club, the Silver Dollars Square Dancing Club, and the Adams County Home Extension. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed crafting, sewing, painting, and reading.

Survivors include: two children, Gregory (Jill) Wright of Palmetto, FL; and Debi (Tom) Gehring of Quincy; five grandsons, Jason (Nikki) Wright, Travis (Kate) Wright, Quen (Laura) Gehring, Blake (Sara) Gehring, and Tim (Kristen) Gehring; seven great grandchildren, Owen, Cole, Makenzie, and Dylan Wright, and Forrest, Eppie, and Jackson Gehring; a sister, Wanda (Charles) Stone; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Richard, Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Melvin Faler, and two great grandchildren, Parker and Logan Wright.

Visitation: 10:00 – 11:00 am, Thursday January 9, 2025, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Services: 11:00 am, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery.
