Dr. Peter Leffman – Hansen-Spear

Dr. Peter Lawrence Leffman, age 91, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2024 in the Good Samaritan Home.
He was born on August 7, 1933, in Milan, Italy, a son of Dr. A.A. and Annalisa Wertheim Leffman. He married Mary Allen on December 21, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. She survives.
Dr. Leffman immigrated with his family to the United States in 1948, and became a naturalized citizen. He began his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at the age of 16. He graduated from the University of Illinois and the University of Illinois Medical School, where he also served his residency.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 10 years, two in active service and eight in the reserve. Dr. Leffman and Mary moved to Quincy in 1964, where he joined the Quincy Clinic as an Otolaryngologist (ENT).
Dr. Leffman was a recreational pilot and was a member of the Quincy Flying Club. He also enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He had been a member of the B’Nai Sholom Temple in Quincy.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Mary, include two children, Dr. Ruth (Dr. Michael) Goldman of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA and David Leffman of El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren, Shari (Andre) Goldman Longtin of Novato, CA, Dr. Evan (Rachelle) Goldman of Irvine, CA, Dr. Mia Goldman of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Mitchell Goldman of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Daniel Leffman, Douglas Leffman and Dara Leffman, all of El Paso, TX; three great-grandchildren, Eva and Caleb Longtin, and Benjamin Goldman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Leffman.
Private graveside services will be held in Greenmount Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and American Legion Post 37.
