Elizabeth Mahsman – Hansen-Spear
Elizabeth Mahsman, age 95, of Quincy, died on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 7:05 p.m. in Sunset Home.
Elizabeth was born on June 13, 1929 in Hannibal, MO, a daughter of James and Amelia Hatton Sexton. On January 22, 1952 she married Harold L. Enslen in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1965. She then married Orville Lee Mahsman on June 3, 1967 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2019.
Elizabeth was a 1946 graduate of Hannibal High School. She devoted her life to her family as a loving homemaker, always cherishing her role in their lives. An avid gardener, she found joy in tending her flowers and meticulously caring for her yard, though she waged a relentless battle against dandelions. A dedicated member of the Baptist faith, Elizabeth taught Sunday school for over 50 years, sharing her wisdom and faith with generations. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering commitment to her family and community will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: her daughter, Rebecca (Lee) Moffitt of Pittsfield, IL; four grandchildren: Patrick (Lindsay) Wombles of Salem, IL; Susan (fiancée, Jason Hoover) Ogle of Pittsfield, IL; Alex (Mallory) Moffitt of Pittsfield, IL; and Devon Wombles of Quincy; six great grandchildren: Emmett Moffitt, Ryker Wombles, Leland Wombles, Thomas Kindhart, Hailey Goodwin, and Shayley Wombles; two step-daughters: Margaret Mahsman of Houston, TX; and Sharon Mahsman of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her two husbands, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Wombles; five siblings: Marguerite Moore, Carl Sexton, Mary Wessel, Doris Huss, and Shirley Fox; and three nieces: Carlene Sexton, Janet Huss, and Sharon Treaster.
Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO.
