Emily Ann Lewis – Hansen-Spear
Emily Ann Lewis, age 82, of Quincy, died on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 4:16 am in her home.
Emily was born March 16, 1942 in Geneseo, Illinois, the daughter of William J. and Marie Anderson Cederberg. She married David Glenn Lewis on June 16, 1990 in Vermont Street United Methodist Church, Quincy, Illinois. He survives.
Emily graduated from Cambridge High School, Cambridge, Illinois, and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Emily was an elementary and special education teacher for the Quincy Public Schools at Lincoln and Washington schools.
Emily was an active member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church. She played in the Hand Bell Choir for many years and served on various committees. She was most recently serving on the Care Committee. She was also a member of PEO Chapter FH-MK, the Adams County Retired Teachers Association, and the Adams County Old Tyme Association. In addition, she had enjoyed volunteering at Blessing Hospital and delivering Meals on Wheels. Emily had fun traveling with David whether it was sight-seeing, cruising, tractor shows or clock shows.
Family activities were important to Emily as were her many friendships. The support and love of both family and friends were so appreciated through the years of her cancer journey.
In addition to her husband, David, Emily is survived by two step-daughters, Jill (Rick) Neal and Sara (Mark Juette) Lewis, both of Quincy; a step-son, Jason Lewis of Quincy; five step-grandchildren, Kyle Brotherton, Kelsey (Matt) Fortney, Tim Gibson, Britany (Ian) Allen, and Eric (Michelle) Gibson; five step great grandchildren; a brother, James (Marcia) Cederberg of Cerro Gordo, IL; and a niece, Elaine (Sean) Stevens of Monticello, IL.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother in infancy, John Cederberg.
Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Vermont Street United Methodist Church.
Services: 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Vermont Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kathy Crozier and Rev. Annelle Ruemmler officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later day in New Providence Cemetery in Ursa, Illinois.
