Services for Fern Hanson, 96, of Vandalia, will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 18,2024 at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia, with Pastor Jamie Franke officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hanson passed away at 10:40 A.M., April 12, 2024, at King’s Daughters Home in Mexico
Fern was born on June 15, 1927, in Ralls County, the daughter of Joe Henry and Ethel Lou Jackson Righter.
She married Bob Hanson on December 25, 1951, in Wellsville and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2023.
Survivors include two daughters; Cheryl (Jerry) Elsenraat of Hermann and Bobette (Ronnie) Landis of Auxvasse, one sister; Gloria McKinney, eight grandchildren; Wade (Elisa) Fitzpatrick and Travis Fitzpatrick, Marnie (Shane) Carothers, Mindy (Brandon) Meyer, Justin Landis, Jody Spears, Jared Landis, and Janae Landis, seventeen great grandchildren; Lacy Fitzpatrick, Porter Fitzpatrick, Victoria (Jade) Taggert, Kellie, and Matthew Carothers, Shayna, Madison, Reagan, and Brady Landis, Natalie, Allison, and Evan Landis, Kylee and Kade Spears, Kaylin and Gavin Weldon, and Mia Meyer, along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter; Diana Rae Gentry, six sisters; Emma Pease, Lois Landers, Betty Goodman, Billie Williams, Rheva Griggs, and Villa Graves, two grandchildren; Lyle Fitzpatrick and Gary Dean Gentry, and one great grandchild; Corbin Fitzpatrick.
Mrs. Hanson was a Christian by faith. She enjoyed cooking and baking, puzzles and reading but most of all she enjoyed her time spent with family.
Pallbearers will be Justin Landis, Jared (Frances) Landis, Wade Fitzpatrick, Travis Fitzpatrick, Brandon Meyer, Shane Carothers, and Jade Taggert.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and her great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be to Kings Daughters Home, in care of Bienhoff Funeral Home, P.O. 54, Vandalia, Missouri 63382.
