Floyd L. “Pat” Smith — Hansen-Spear

Floyd L. “Pat” Smith, age 86, of Camp Point, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 8:29 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Pat was born on March 17, 1939 in Quincy, a son of Ethel Dyer Smith. On June 3, 1989, he married Evelyn Peters in Palmyra, MO. She survives.
Pat dedicated 45 years of his life to Quincy Compressor, where he built a long and respected career before retiring in 2001. A true outdoorsman at heart, he found joy in hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and tending to his vegetable garden. He also had a knack for painting cars, a hobby he pursued with skill and pride. Pat cherished time with his family, especially during game nights, and he delighted in playing Santa Claus for the children each holiday season. A natural storyteller with an easy smile, Pat never met a stranger. His warmth and disposition left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, survivors include three children: Floyd Smith II of Quincy, Sherri Riddle of Lawtey, FL, and Debbie Halle of Stark, FL; two stepchildren: Lisa (Stan) Wand of Quincy; and Kevin (Joni) Veile of Quincy; a half brother, Ralph (Sandy) Smith, Jr. of Quincy; a half sister, Gail Lynn; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by his mother; a daughter, Patti Ann Smith; two sisters: Janet Wombles and Pam Brinkley; a brother, Charles Smith; and a half brother, Mike Smith.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Pat’s family would like for attendees to dress casually.
Service: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Kory Hollensteiner officiating. Pat’s family would like for attendees to dress casually.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL
