Services for George Ely Lane, 89, of Center, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Olivet Christian Church, with Pastor Steve Goughnour officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church. Masonic services will begin at 12:45 at the church.
Mr. Lane passed away at 8:48 P.M., Monday, May 27, 2024 at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
George was born on January 6, 1935 in Hannibal, the son of George Henry and Susie Emily Simpson Lane.
He married Mary Francis Palmer on November 1, 1958, in Center and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters; Kim (Dwight) Naber of Osborne, KS, and Angie (John Paul) Miller of Columbia, three grandchildren; Kylie (Garrett) Reiss of St. George, KS, Megan (Austin) Jones of Ashland, and Mason Miller of Columbia, and two great grandchildren; Kallie Reiss and Asher Jones.
George was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; H.D. Lane and W.E. Lane and one sister; Dorothy Halsey.
Mr. Lane was a lifetime area resident and a member of the Union Chapel Christian Church. George E. was very active in his community as a member of the Ralls Masonic lodge #33, former Center Lions club, Ralls County Young Farmers, Spencer Creek coon hunters, and FSA committee member. He served Ralls county as presiding commissioner for three terms. He was a lifelong farmer that greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter pursuing deer, turkey, and raccoon just to name a few.
Pallbearers will be Mason Miller, Austin Jones, Garrett Reiss, Ronnie Horn, Tom Horn, John Paul Miller, and Dwight Naber.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Wasson, Larry Kamp, Darrell Smith, Raymond Kirtlink, Bill Wright, Dan Carey, Jay Asbury, John Palmer, David Palmer, Don Palmer, Eddie Palmer, Bud Burchett, Dennis McMillen, Steve Whitaker, Jared Ross, Brad Smith, John Robinson, R.C. Harlow, Wiley Hibbard, Ron Peterson, Kenny Ross, and Darryl Gaw.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Chapel Cemetery, in care of Bienhoff Funeral Home, P.O. Box 54, Center, Missouri 63436.
