Gerald Deming, 65, of Camp Point, IL, died at 4:19 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Born May 9, 1960, in Quincy, IL, Gerald was the son of Kenneth and Lucille Tournear Deming. He married Sheila Kay Rumsey on October 23, 2007, in Las Vegas, NV. She survives.

Gerald was employed for many years at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy until his retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, Gerald loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed shooting pool, was an excellent foosball player, and always appreciated a good game of darts. He loved going to auctions and antiquing. Known as a true “Jack of all trades,” he could fix or fabricate virtually anything.

He enjoyed spending time at home, feeding his fish, or cutting trails while riding his golf cart or four-wheeler. His favorite time of day was taking evening rides with the love of his life, Sheila.

Gerald attended Glory Worship Center in Clayton, IL, where he was recently baptized.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his children: Heather Fuqua (Nathan) of Quincy; Tollie Mohr (Jonathan) of Granite City, IL; Gerald Lee Deming Jr. of Quincy; and Haley Hogan (Max) of Quincy; his stepchildren: Zachary “Zach” Nokes of Quincy; Renea Yates (Travis) of Florida; Shawn Nokes (Amanda) of Springfield, IL; Alex Nokes of Wayland, MO; and Austin Nokes of Centralia, IL; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Cegas (Donald); two brothers, Gary Tournear and Dennis Deming (Tina); his brother-in-law, Ed Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Phyllis Kay Brown; and his brother, Roger Deming.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Glory Worship Center in Clayton, IL. A Celebration of Gerald’s Life will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Glory Worship Center.
