Glenda M. Griffin, 84, of Payson, passed away at 9:40 pm Friday, January 3, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Glenda was born April 15, 1940, in Quincy, IL to Arch and Mildred (Herzog) Peer. She was married to Shelby E. Griffin on October 25, 1958 at St. James Lutheran Church in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2011.

Survivors include her children, Lisa L. Griffin, Kristie Arrowsmith, and Shelby Griffin (Tammy); four grandchildren, Cory Arrowsmith (Stacy), Stacy Mixer (Mike), Shelby R. Griffin, and Cara Tarpein (James); seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one daughter, Sherry Griffin.

Glenda’s professional life was marked by her long-standing tenure at Kirlin’s, where she worked in the warehouse with dedication and a strong work ethic.

Glenda’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. Known affectionately as the queen of garage sales, she had a keen eye for hidden treasures and the charm to negotiate the best deals. Her love for nature was evident as she delighted in watching the birds and squirrels play in her backyard. Each fall, she looked forward to the Pike County Color Drive, an event that allowed her to revel in the beauty of the changing foliage. An avid camper, she often accompanied her husband on hunting trips, creating lasting memories in nature.

Her faithful beagle, Maggie, was a constant companion and source of joy. Glenda’s hobbies were as diverse as her interests; she was an adept trap shooter at the Northside Boatclub, a voracious reader of mysteries and romance novels, and an enthusiastic bowler. Each of these activities reflected a facet of her vibrant personality and her zest for life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Friends and Family are invited to a visitation that will be Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL.
A Funeral Ceremony will directly proceed at 11:00 am. Dr. Tom Dickerson will officiate. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, IL.
