James E. Hickman — Hansen-Spear
James Estell Hickman, age 85, of Quincy, died on December 26, 2024 at 8:50 am in his home.
James was born on February 3, 1939 a son of James “Jack” and Emma Diggs Hickman. He married Dolly Marvella Wilson on November 27, 1982 in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.
James attended Douglas High School in Hannibal, Missouri, and graduated form La Grange High School, in La Grange, Missouri.
He was employed for over 40 years with the City of Quincy, and retired in 1998 as a supervisor in the sanitation department. He enjoyed playing and watching softball and baseball, playing poker and bowling. He was a huge Pittsburg Steelers Fan. He loved spending time with his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Dolly, include eight children, Keenan Williams, Tonia Williams, Natalie Williams, Karnell (Lisa) Williams, Jeffrey Williams, Melissa Williams, Trinell (Theresa) Hickman, and Geneice (Juan) Nash, all of Quincy; three bonus children, Tosha (James) Wofford, Bradley (Morgan) Longcor II, and Jada (Darren) Griggs, all of Quincy; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alberta Hickman of Quincy, Marcia Kay Harvey of Las Vegas, NV, Marva Lynn Hickman of Hayward, CA, and Jackie (Michael) Osborne of Quincy; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn Hickman of Quincy, Wanda Wilson of Quincy, and Stephanie Houston of Macomb, IL; a brother-in-law, Roger Wilson of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Deborah Hickman, Ella Davis, and Margaret Hickman Lewis; and three brothers, John Edward Hickman, Norman Hickman, and John E. Hickman.
Visitation: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Service: 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Green officiating.
Burial: Quincy Memorial Park Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois with full military honors conduction by
American Legion Post 37 and the United States Army Funeral Honors Detail.
