Judy Lenore (Grimmer) Schoonover – O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home
Judy Lenore (Grimmer) Schoonover, 94 of Grovetown, Georgia, formerly of Quincy, Illinois passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.
Fr. Patrick Smith will officiate the requiem mass at St. John’s Parish and Cathedral beginning at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. The family will accept visitors in the narthex at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois.
Judy was born December 31, 1929, in Augusta, Illinois to Major General Donald R and Ruby L. (Huff) Grimmer. She married Brigadier General William Schoonover on October 22, 1948, in Quincy, Illinois. Together they had 3 daughters, Kathryn, Diana, and Deborah. Before the birth of her daughters, Judy taught tap and ballet to many eager young dancers in Quincy. Once she and her husband moved to Hinsdale, Illinois, she spent many hours volunteering at Grace Episcopal Church, also taking part in bridge and garden clubs. Judy and her husband eventually retired in Grovetown, Georgia.
Judy is survived by her three daughters, Kathryn Schlueter (Dr. Jeff) of Joshua Texas, Diana Bethel (James) of Millen Georgia and Deborah Burke (Alan) of Grovetown, Georgia; six grandchildren, Jennifer Wrinkle, William Anderle, Joseph Bethel, Jack Bethel and Austin and Daniel Burke; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Clark, Jacob Anderle, Gracie Anderle, Sophie Bethel, Sydney Bethel, Zoey Bethel, Elam and Elliott Burke; and one great great-grandchild, P.J. Burgin.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ruby Grimmer; and husband, William Schoonover.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to Church of Our Savior, Martinez, Georgia.
