Julia Mae Green Murphy – Hansen-Spear
Julia Mae (Green) Murphy, age 68, of Des Moines, Iowa, died on Friday, October 25, 2024 in MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
Julia was born on September 20, 1956 in Quincy, Illinois, a daughter of Samuel H. Green, Sr. and Jannie Ann Williams Green. She was married to Randy Cartmill on July 10, 1982, and they had a daughter, Tia. She later married Vernon Murphy on November 26, 2005. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2013.
Julia was a graduate of Quincy High School. She enjoyed taking trips with her best friend, Susie Clay. Julia loved to have fun and live life to its fullest. She was devoted to her family and dearly loved her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, going to the park, the library or just being at home with them to love on.
Survivors include her daughter, Tia Cartmill of Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren, Justin D. Cartmill and Knya Cartmill, both of Des Moines; eight great-grandchildren, Tanner and Kamdyn Murray, Jayceon, Haydynn, Johnee, Jonathan, Alijah, and Coco Cartmill; three brothers, Timothy Green of Altanta, Ga, Samuel (Georgia) Green, Jr. of Quincy, and William (Diane) Green, of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Vernon, Julia was preceded in death by her parents, a great-granddaughter, Hayzee Cartmill, and two sisters, Nancy Ann Green and Karen K. Howard.
Visitation: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Service: 1:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Cartmill officiating.
Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois
