Ken Unmisig, 85, of Quincy, passed away at 10:37 am Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Ken was born July 16, 1939, in Quincy, IL to William “Bill” and Laura (Reckers) Unmisig.

Survivors include his three sons, Kent Unmisig of Quincy, IL, Kirk (Jennifer) Unmisig of Quincy, IL, and Kyle Unmisig of Quincy, IL; seven grandchildren, Samantha (Dain) Prewitt, Taylor (Justin) Jackson, Allie Unmisig, Katey (Kyle) Massey, William “Will” Unmisig (Chloe), Casey (Jessica) Brunenn, and Jacob Fenton; seven great-grandchildren, Jude, Miles, Marguerite, Freya, Angus, Ryleigh, and Ellie; and one sister, Connie Meyer.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janet Mitchell; and one brother, Dale Unmisig.

Ken’s journey began in Quincy, where he grew up and later graduated from Christian Brothers (Quincy Notre Dame) in 1957. His commitment to his country was evident through his service in the United States National Guard reserves. His professional journey started in sales at Van Chevrolet, where he worked his way up to sales manager. After leaving, Ken became the proud owner of Ken Unmisig Auto Sales in West Quincy. His business ventures also included operating Clarence Cannon cleaners and selling insurance before he retired.

Beyond his family and work, Ken had a passion for life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in the tranquil waters of Bennett Springs and Mark Twain Lake. His love for cars was more than just a business; it was a hobby that brought him immense happiness, especially his beloved red 1963 Impala convertible. Ken’s presence at car shows was always a highlight for him and those who shared his interest. He could often be found in his garage crafting wood pieces with care and precision or tending to his gardens. Ken was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, cheering them on through every season with unwavering support.

Ken will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Quincy, IL, with Fr. Tom Meyer officiating. O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home is handling the arrangements.
