Kenneth Gene McDonald – Bienhoff Funeral Home
Services for Kenneth Gene McDonald, 91, of Vandalia, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia with pastor Rick Watson and Harold Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Vandalia Cemetery with his son pastor Randy McDonald leading the committal service.
Visitation will be Friday September 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Masonic services to begin at 7:00 PM at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia.
Mr. McDonald passed away at 1:41 AM at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico.
He was born February 7, 1933 in Middletown the son of Leslie Ernest and Velma Mae Tagg McDonald.
He Married Martha Alexander Meyers on March 31, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2008.
Survivors include: three sons; Eugene (Nancy) McDonald of Vandalia, Randy (Lola) McDonald of Center, and Dwayne McDonald of Farber, one daughter; Charlotte (Bobby) Gaw of Warrensburg, step son; Wesley Meyers of Midland, NC, twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son; Daniel McDonald, grandson; Cole McDonald, step son John Meyers, and brother; Leslie E. McDonald Jr.
Kenneth was a lifetime area resident and farmer. He was a 1951 graduate of Vandalia High School and member of the Vandalia First Presbyterian Church. Kenneth was a Lifetime member of the Vandalia VFW Post 2173 where he served as commander for over twenty years and was instrumental in starting the weekly fish fry. He was also a member of the Laddonia American Legion Post 510 and member for over fifty years to the Vandalia Masonic Lodge 491.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie and Brenda Babb, Merle and Sue Culwell, Alan Williams, Mike Lowrance, JC Davis, Dennis McDonald, and Dr. Mike and Lela Cole.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vandalia VFW Post 2173 scholarship fund in care of Bienhoff Funeral Home, PO Box 54 Vandalia, MO 63382.
