Marcus E. Crawford – Hansen-Spear
Marcus E. Crawford, age 76, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 7:54 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Marcus was born on January 2, 1948 in Effingham, IL, the son of Van and Roselea Rife Crawford.
Marcus served in the United States Army from January 25, 1968 until his honorable discharge on January 23, 1970. He was a member of American Legion Post 37 in Quincy. Marcus owned and operated several bars in Quincy, including The Anchor and Fortique, and was also a landlord and property manager. In addition, he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years until his retirement. Marcus took great pleasure in spoiling his grandchildren and always made time for them. He was also a connoisseur of fast food, always on the lookout for the best spots to enjoy a quick meal.
Survivors include three children: Susan Crawford of Quincy; Jared Crawford of Hannibal, MO; and Dustin (Jordan) Crawford of Quincy; seven grandchildren: Kristin Tucker of Liberty, IL; Lucas Noble of Quincy; Frankie Crawford of Quincy; Elijah and Jaxon Crawford of Hannibal, MO; and Maverick and Amelia Crawford of Quincy; three great-grandchildren: Kordin and Jiavanna McColez of Liberty, IL; and Audrey Calvert of Sunset Hills, MO; and a cousin, Don Mayfield of Quincy.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Alexander Calvert; and a sister, Darlene “Dee” Coleman.
Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Inurnment: 11:15 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Quincy Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 37 and the United States Army Funeral Detail.
