Michael H. “Mike” Geise — Duker & Haugh

Michael H. “Mike” Geise age 59, of Quincy died on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the peace and comfort of his own home, with his beloved dogs by his side.
Mike was born August 5, 1965, in Quincy, a son of Henry B. and Jill C. (Groves) Geise. He was a 1983 graduate of Quincy High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Quincy College. Mike later attended massage therapy school in St. Louis and became a licensed massage therapist.
Beginning in his early teens, Mike started working at the Maid Rite, the Geise family business, where he still actively worked and was a co-owner. His co-workers loved him; he was often described as a fun boss that treated his employees fairly. He was fiercely dedicated to the family business, and absolutely loved mentoring his son Caiden to one day carry on the family restaurant. Mike was extremely proud to be celebrating the Maid Rite’s 100-year anniversary in 2028.
Mike also worked at Designer’s Edge as a massage therapist. He had many regular and loyal clients who will miss him dearly.
Mike was of the Christian faith. He had a big heart and was always helping others, whether it be friends or complete strangers. He was patient and kind, and his quiet strength and sense of humor will be missed by many.
Mike was most content when he was outdoors. If he was with Caiden, Payten, and his many dogs (Bella, Sadie, Koda, Ruger, and Charlie) he was happy. Much of his free time was spent at the family cabin, fondly referred to as Bear Lake. Mike regularly enjoyed his time out there relaxing on the dock, or having what he called “a day on the bench”. He was an avid hunter and especially loved bow hunting. As soon as Mike’s son Caiden could walk, the two of them would spend countless hours in the woods preparing for hunting season. When November arrived, there was no doubt where the two of them could be found…in the woods and nowhere else. He enjoyed several trips to Canada to hunt bear, wolves, and moose. Mike was a proud member of the N.R.A.
Survivors include his son Caiden Geise and Caiden’s longtime girlfriend, Payten Rice of Quincy; his sister, Lisa Knuffman and her husband Bryan of Liberty, IL; two nieces Taylor Welch and her husband Payton, and Destiny Myers and her husband Christopher of Lehi, Utah. Several cousins and aunts and uncles also survive.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved dog, “Shadow”.
A visitation for Mike will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at Spring Street Bar on Sunday, August 3, 2025, with details to be announced soon. Private interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society, United Way of Adams County, or Wounded Warrior Project. Messages may shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com
