Michael William Gregory Fennell — Duker & Haugh
Michael William Gregory Fennell, age 43, of Quincy, IL, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2024, in his home. Michael was born on December 1, 1980, in Quincy, a son of William ‘Bill’ and Linda (Bowen) Fennell. He was a 1999 graduate of Quincy High School. Due to his outgoing personality, Michael had a very enjoyable and successful career in retail sales, including serving as manager of Rex Appliance and a member of the sales staff of Home Depot, AT&T, Cricket Wireless and other cellular retailers.
Michael never met a stranger and was willing to give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar out of his wallet (he was known to do that on more than one occasion). He had a soft heart for children and animals. He had a great ability in sales and met and made many friends through work. Some of Michael’s most enjoyable moments were family vacations and traveling, particularly to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and the beaches of Florida. He also enjoyed online gaming with friends.
Michael is survived by his mother Linda Fennell (Jim Sheffield); his children Caleb and Madison Fennell; his sister, Kristin Fennell (Brian Swann); his nieces, Jocelyn and Annika Swann; aunts and uncles, Evelyn Holtschlag, Curt and Mary Bowen, and Susan and David Tierney; numerous cousins; and his former wife, Jessie Fennell.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Bill Fennell; his grandparents, Wayne ‘Bill’ and Cecelia Fennell and Jim and Hazel Bowen; uncles Jim Fennell, Ronnie Bowen, and Leroy Holtschlag; aunts Pam Bowen and Patricia Fennell Birdsall; and cousin Lance Bowen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society or to the family, in care of Linda Fennell. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
