Minnie L. Johnson — Hansen-Spear

Minnie L. Johnson, age 91, of Quincy, died on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 12:35 p.m. in her home.
Minnie was born on July 26, 1933 in Hazard, KY, the daughter of Carl and Jessie Pankey Brown.
Minnie dedicated her life to caring for others, building a meaningful career as a caregiver at several facilities in Quincy, including Woodland Home, Quanada, Carelink, the Quincy Senior Center, and Cedarhurst. Her compassion extended beyond elder care. She also worked as a cook at Quincy College and owned and operated her own daycare, providing a nurturing environment for children in the community. As a foster parent, Minnie opened her heart and home to countless children in need. She was a devoted member of Cathedral of Worship, where her faith was a guiding force in her life of service. Her selfless contributions did not go unnoticed, as Minnie received numerous awards in recognition of her continued commitment to others.
Minnie is survived by four children: Rosalind Knaff of Charlotte, NC; Eldridge Brock, Jr. of Quincy; Maylean Brock of Quincy; and Jebora (Latonya) Brock of Quincy; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sheila Ann Knaff; and her brother, James LeRoy Knaff.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Service: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Cathedral of Worship with Bishop E.L. Warren officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL
