Nan Olson – Duker & Haugh
Nan Y. Olson, age 90, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in Bradford Villa. She was born on March 20, 1934 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Richard & Violet (Baker) Musgrave. She married Donald H. Waterkotte and from that union was born her four children. She later married Melvin ‘Jay’ Olson. He preceded her in death.
Nan received her Bachelor’s Degree from Quincy University and her Master’s Degree from Kent State University. Nan worked as a librarian at many various places throughout the years.
Nan enjoyed genealogy and loved to read. She was a member of the Historical Society and volunteered at the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and the Illinois Veterans Home.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Nan is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Steven R. Waterkotte (Judith) , Michelle ‘Mikki’ Price (Dennis), David Waterkotte (Tracy) and Scott Waterkotte (Angela) all of Quincy.
EIGHTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Cody Waterkotte (Morgan), Wyatt Waterkotte,
Jessi-lyn Liesen (Andy), Sierra Nance (Randy), Justin Waterkotte, Wesley Waterkotte and Rich Chatfield; DeAnne Roche (Andy) and Derek Price (Kourtney); Rachel Waterkotte (Brady Loos), Meggie Koch (David), Elliot Waterkotte, Leah Ley (Brandon) and Maty Waterkotte (Ari Harris); Christopher Waterkotte (Macy), Alex Waterkotte (Cari), Austin Waterkotte and Nicole Waterkotte.
Numerous Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Nan was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Sharon Andrews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
