Nora Nadine Preston, 78, of Pittsfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL.
Ms. Preston was born to Claude and Nellie (Stewart) Preston on December 7, 1946, in Quincy, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, D. Dwain (Doc) Preston, Ronald S. Preston, and Lewis L. Preston, all of Quincy; as well as two sisters-in-law, Regina A. Preston (Dwain) and Dorothy M. Preston (Ronald).
She is survived by her sister, Donna S. Wood (Craig) of Kirkwood, MO, seven nieces and two nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. She will be remembered by her many friends.
Ms. Preston was a 1965 graduate of Quincy Senior High School, and a 1969 graduate of Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. After college, she became a teacher at Seymour High School in Payson, IL. In 1979, she received a master’s degree in history from Western Illinois University. After twenty years of teaching in Payson, she retired to attend Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA and became a Methodist minister. She served throughout central Illinois in various churches. She was also active in The Walk to Emmaus.
Her interests included crafting, scrapbook making, reading, and crocheting. She also enjoyed traveling. Her travels included two trips to the Holy Land, mission trips to Mexico, a trip to Paris, and her favorite was a trip to Egypt where she went into King Tut’s tomb. She enjoyed southern gospel music and loved hymns and sacred music.
Memorials may be made to the Great Rivers Walk to Emmaus or Preachers Aid Society of UMC in honor of Nadine.
Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home at 1435 State Street in Quincy, IL.
A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2025, at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. Pastor Marty Pressey will officiate. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, IL.
