Richard “Dick” McCullough Winters II

Richard McCullough Winters II, of Ft. Meyers Beach, Florida, passed away on February 9, 2024.

Richard “Dick” was born in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Richard and Virginia Young Winters, on August 18, 1947. He married Patti Wombles on August 22, 1992, and he was previously married to Irene Villa and Paula Wegman.

Dick graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1965, and he attended Purdue and Bradley Universities. Dick then joined the United States Marine Corp. He worked in the family business JM Winters & Sons Insurance Company, Titan Wheel, and was co-owner of Hot Bike of Quincy.

Dick is survived by his wife, Patti; sons Richard Winters III, Brandon (Dana) Winters, Evan Wombles; a daughter Lindsey (Brian) Luthy; 13 grandchildren; a sister Ann Knapheide; a brother Michael Winters; a sister-in-law, Mary Winters; several nephews including, Harold “Bo” (Erin) Knapheide IV; and a niece, Jennifer (Don) Winters Krutmeier.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Steve Winters, a brother-in-law Harold “Knap” Knapheide III, and nephew Ragan Winters Knapheide.

The Winters family will hold a memorial service in Ft. Myers Beach later this spring.

As Dick was an Eagle Scout, it was his wish for memorials to be sent to the Boy Scouts of America. Memorial donations to the Mississippi Valley Council BSA may be made online at https://memorials.hansenspear.com/
