Robert “Bob” Milton Lubbert, age 89, of Quincy, died on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 4:45 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.

Bob was born on August 22, 1935, in Quincy, Illinois the son of Walter C. and Marion E. Summers Lubbert. He married Betty E. Alger on June 29, 1957 in Ellington Presbyterian Church in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

Bob was a 1954 graduate of Quincy High School. In 1971 Bob started his own construction company, Robert Lubbert Construction, which he owned and operated until his retirement at the age of 84. Over the years, Bob constructed countless homes in Quincy and the surrounding area and developed several subdivisions. He genuinely loved his work…everything except concrete day.

Bob met Betty at rural youth square dancing. During their married life, Bob and Betty, moved 30 times, giving Betty many opportunities to decorate. Bob was a loving and devoted family man who was affectionately known as “Papa” to his granddaughters, Jessica and Kaylee, and as “Pops” to his grandsons, Colin, Tyler, and Dylan. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family.

Bob was a member of Ellington Presbyterian Church where he had served as a trustee, and along with Betty served as the teenage youth group leaders when their children were in school. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved playing cards, especially with his golfing buddies. He also enjoyed watching birds in the back yard among the roses and their pond, as well as checking out the crops at his farms. Due to his quick wit and keen sense of humor, Bob kept his family, friends, doctors, and nurses laughing.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Betty, include three daughters, Bobette (Jody) Shoop of Pensacola, FL, Diane (Steve) Campbell of Colorado Springs, CO, and Lesa (Scott) Wiesemann of Quincy; five grandchildren, Jessica Shoop, Kaylee (Nathan) Klein, Colin Campbell, Tyler Campbell, and Dylan (Arlene) Wiesemann; a brother, Walter “Chuck” Lubbert; a sister, Ruth Ann Lubbert; two sisters-in-law, Judy Lubbert and Rebecca Lubbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
