Robert C. Schwartz – Hansen-Spear

Robert (Bob) Carl Schwartz, 89, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of the Liberty area, passed away peacefully at 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Blessing Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on September 27, 1935, in Quincy, Illinois, to Carl Otto Schwartz and Hester Ada (Marshall) Schwartz. On April 27, 1957, he married Shirley Ann Fischer in Quincy. Together they built a life filled with love and service until her passing on April 13, 2014.
On July 14, 2018, Bob married Gloria Dean (Mapes) Rosekamp Strate at Curtis Creek Retirement Village, and they lived in Quincy. Gloria passed on October 11, 2020.
A man of many talents, Bob was a farmer, truck driver, and the founder and proprietor of S&S Appliance Service, which he operated for many years. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active member of The Crossing Church and Grace Baptist Church in Quincy. Bob’s commitment to community shone through his leadership as a 4-H club leader in Liberty and his role as a square dance caller for the Liberty Bells and Beaus and Quincy Silver Dollars square dance clubs. In his later years, he devoted himself to the prayer ministry at The Crossing’s Curtis Creek Retirement Home and he brought joy to residents by providing karaoke activities. Bob was passionate about Karaoke and loved singing at the Elks, Senior Center, and other venues.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Steven R. Schwartz of Alpharetta, Georgia, and David R. (Randi) Schwartz of Quincy; four grandchildren, Tim C. (Cari) Schwartz of East Peoria, Illinois, Travis A. (Natalie) Schwartz of Coconut Creek, Florida, Tyler S. Schwartz of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Austin M. Schwartz of Seattle, Washington; a step-granddaughter, Katie L. (Jon) Cunningham; and five step-great-grandchildren, Cole, Addison, Aubrie, Brynlee, and Jett. He also leaves behind a brother, Bill R. Schwartz of Plainville, Illinois, and a sister, Ada Miller of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; an infant son, Timothy S. Schwartz; and infant triplet great-grandchildren, Ella, Emma, and Oliver Schwartz, and his second wife Gloria Dean (Mapes) Rosekamp Strate Schwartz.
Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Service: 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy. Reverend Alan Rabe will officiate.
