Robert Joseph Maas age 82, of Quincy passed away at home on June 8, 2025 after a two year battle with cancer.  He was born in Quincy on March 28, 1943, a son of Elmer John and Coletta Lucy (Wellman) Maas.
He married Connie Louise Moenning on September 2, 1961, in St. Francis Catholic Church and she survives.
Bob was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He worked for Moorman Manufacturing Company in the maintenance department for 33 years. Additionally, Bob owned his own construction company. He took great pride in building homes and doing remodeling jobs for people.
Robert was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Men’s Society and volunteered for many projects around the church throughout the years. In his free time, he liked woodworking and building things for his children and grandchildren. He also loved his John Deere and found solace when mowing his grass.
In addition to his wife Connie, survivors also include their children: Debra (Bob) Schaffer of Quincy, IL; Jeff (Gayle) Maas of Colorado Springs, CO; Cheryl (Brad) Burghart; Kevin (Beth) Maas all of Quincy.
Grandchildren: Jason (Jessie) Powell and Zack Powell; Brooke (Jake) Rast; Rachel (Rita) Maas; Breann and Evan Burghart; and Maddie Maas. Step grandchildren: Scott Schaffer and Sam Harris. Great grandchildren: Ashtun Powell; and Caleb, Bryce and Alivia Rast. Siblings: Lucille (Fritzie) Nieders, Thomas (Julie) Maas and Elmer (Jeanie) Maas. Sisters-in-law: Joann Moenning; and Mary Moenning. along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to thank special caregivers and Bob’s nieces; Theresa Niesen, Thesesa Shipe, Wanda Rossmiller and Marie Yates along with Village Caregiving.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, Sharie Marie Maas. Siblings: Rosie Benz, Loretta Klauser, Barbara Hilgenbrink, Virgil Maas, Clarence Maas, Clara Neisen, Joan Dreyer, Florence Smith; Raymond Maas, Melvin Maas and Gerald Maas. Brothers-in-law: Ken Moenning and Stan Moenning.
Funeral Services: Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Donovan officiating. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Church. Memorials may be made to: St. Anthony Catholic Church or to Blessing Hospital Foundation for Hospice.
