He was a proud father to his children: Terrie Lynn Lohman (Ed), Rocky Altgilbers Jr. (Rachael), Mandy Moss (David), Candy Scalise (Rodney), Mary Hoelscher (Jeremy), Melissa Farmer (Eric), Nick Altgilbers (Kaci), and Kegan Sullivan. His joy multiplied with the birth of each grandchild and great-grandchild. Rocky’s family extended to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored deeply. After his military service, he continued to serve his community in law enforcement. Rocky worked in court security at the Adams County Sheriff’s Department for 21 years, retiring in 2009. His commitment to service was further demonstrated through his active membership in the Eagles, VFW, and American Legion, where he found camaraderie and support among fellow veterans.
Beyond his professional life, Rocky was a man of diverse interests and hobbies. He had a passion for classic cars, with a particular fondness for his first and favorite, a 1953 Chevy 2-door. Rocky’s companionship with his dogs throughout his life showcased his kind and caring nature. An avid reader, he amassed a collection of over 300 books, with John Grisham novels among his favorites. His taste in music leaned towards country western, and he never missed a chance to visit O’Shea’s for a chili dog, a simple pleasure that brought him great joy.
