Roger G. Whitaker – Hansen-Spear

The world became a little less bright on July 23, 2025 with Roger Whitaker’s passing. Roger was born on January 12, 1947, in Fishhook, Illinois. His infectious laughter and witty sarcasm kept those around him with a smile on their face.
Roger attended Perry High School, where he played basketball and baseball. Roger married the love of his life, Virginia “Ginger” Kirkton, on December 19, 1964, and they enjoyed 60 plus years together. Shortly after his marriage, Roger served proudly and honorably in the United State Army in Vietnam. He retired from the U.S. Post Office. Roger most enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his love of hunting, fishing and photography.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Ginger, include their two children, Ryan (wife Bobbie) Whitaker and Lance Whitaker. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lodelle and Norma Lee Whitaker, his grandparents, Andy and Nora Whitaker, a brother, Bobby Whitaker, and his mother-in-law, C.L. Kirkton.
