Roynola Lois Blair – Hansen-Spear
Roynola Lois Blair, age 90, of Quincy, died Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 10:08 pm in St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison, WI.
Roynola was born September 28, 1933 in Payson, Illinois, the daughter of Frank W. and Gladys M. Harris Becker. She married Donald G. Blair on September 14, 1957 in Luther Memorial Church. They were married for 60 years.
Roynola attended Whitcomb School near Plainville, IL. In 1946 she moved to Quincy where she graduated from Quincy High School in 1951. While in high school, Roynola played the clarinet and was an active member of the concert band, marching band, and orchestra. After graduation, she attended Gem City Business College and the American Institute of Banking.
Roynola began her career in banking in June of 1951 at Broadway National Bank, and she retired from First Bankers Trust in 1996.
Roynola was an active member of Luther Memorial Church, and she held numerous positions. She was a Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, a bell choir member, church treasurer for 12 years, and a member of the WICKS and What-So-Evers women’s organizations.
Roynola was a 50 year member of the Grace Whipple Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was an avid fan of University of Illinois football and basketball. Roynola particularly enjoyed the Marching Illini.
Survivors include two sons: Alan W. (Maria) Blair of Hoffman Estates, IL; and Mark S. (Linda) Blair of Verona, WI; four grandchildren: Laura E. Blair of Orlando, FL; Emily R. (Brendon Dyrda) Blair of Aurora, IL; Ryan Blair of Madison, WI; and Taylor M. Blair of Madison, WI; and a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Babcock of Overland Park, KS.
In addition to her husband, Donald, Roynola was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents: Dr. and Mrs. Roy Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Becker; and a cousin, Michael L. Smith.
Visitation: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Tuesday July 2, 2024 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
Services: 10:00 am Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Brett Gosteli officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
