Ruthie P. Foster — Hansen-Spear
Ruthie P. Foster, age 85, of Quincy, died on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 9:11 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home.
Ruthie was born on May 17, 1939 in Rockport, IL, a daughter of Frank J. and Frances E. Myers Smith. On July 3, 1957 she married Herbert Foster in Pittsfield, IL. He survives.
Ruthie had been employed by Glenayre Electronics for over 25 years, and she operated a daycare out of her home for over 15 years.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Herbert, survivors include three children: Jim (Sandy) Foster; Don (Cindy) Foster; and Jeff (Debbie) Foster, all of Quincy; 18 grandchildren: Kym (Jamie) Foster, Kale (Rinne) Foster, Alisha (Bobby) Stanley, Shelby Broome, Dustin Foster, Brandon Gholston, Amber Foster, Dakota Foster, Emily Foster, Misty (Jamie) Fierge, Jessica (Andy) Daggett, Eric Foster, Josh (Sara) Foster, Kaleb Reiter, Stephanie (Stephen) Swanson, Stephen (Katie) Foster, Shawn Foster, and Casey (Jessica) Brunenn; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Margie Asby of Solon, IA and Lynne (Tony) Ohnemus of Quincy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, three children: Wayne Foster, Terri Beck, and Chuck Foster; two sisters: Elsie Murray and Doris Boone; a brother, Ed Smith; and a sister in infancy, Evelyn Smith.
Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Service: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. L.D. Grant officiating.
Interment: New Providence Cemetery, Ursa, IL
