Sandra Lee “Sandy” Guthrie Lawrence, 71, from Canton, IL (originally from Quincy, IL) passed away on February 17, 2025, in Canton, IL. Sandy was born on October 5, 1953, in Quincy, IL, a daughter of Gene Guthrie and Alberta (Neisen) Guthrie.
She graduated from Unity High School in 1971, and Western Illinois University in 1975.
Sandy was a substitute teacher and had worked in the office at Harris Corporation for many years.
She married Michael Lawrence in 1981, and they had two children: Corey Lawrence and Andrew Lawrence.
Sandy volunteered for many years at Quincy Community Theatre.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Blessed Sacrament Church.
Survivors include her two sons, Corey Lawrence of Houma, LA and Andrew Lawrence of Manhattan, NY.
Siblings: Susan (Michael) Holbrook of Quincy, Bruce (Carla) Guthrie of Quincy, Tim (Carleen) Guthrie of Swansea, Debra (Michael) Finlay of Mendon, Cindy Lynch of Quincy, Katie (Scott) Smith of Quincy.
Nieces and nephews: Chris (Kesi) Holbrook of Quincy, Jeremy (Erica) Holbrook of Mt. Prospect, Jared (Katie) Holbrook of Quincy, Brianna (Ray) Rivera of Quincy, Zach (Sarah) Guthrie of El Segundo, CA, Kelsey Guthrie of Swansea, Jack Guthrie of St. Louis, Samantha Lynch of Normal, IL, Ian Lynch of St. Louis, Sawyer, Cedar, Stella Smith all of Quincy, and 11 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by grandparents: Joseph & Mildred Neisen; Henry & Daisy Guthrie, parents Henry & Alberta Guthrie, niece Shelby Ann Guthrie, numerous aunts and uncles
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Robert Barko O.F.M officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday morning from 9:00 am. until 10:15 a.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
