Shannon M. Jackson, 45, of Quincy, passed away at 12:01 pm Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her residence in Quincy, IL.

Shannon, daughter of Marty and Kelly (McGlothlin) Jackson, was born August 29, 1978, in Quincy, IL.

Survivors include her parents; her daughter, Lola Jackson; two sisters, Bobbi Jackson of Quincy and Nikki Theodoropoulos (Bob) of Brookfield, IL; nieces and nephews, Grace-Kelly Kuhlmeier, Gabrielle Kuhlmeier, George Theodoropoulos, and Jackson Theodoropoulos; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her two beloved dogs, J.J. and Tito.

Shannon was preceded in death by her grandmother and grandfather, Connie and Robert Hoener; one cousin, Amber Boernson; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her biological father, Rick Arnold.

Shannon grew up in Quincy, where she attended Quincy High School, graduating with the class of 1996. Her passion for learning and growth led her to further her education at Western Illinois University and Quincy University. Throughout her life, Shannon was known for her dedication and work ethic, which she demonstrated in her careers as a restaurant server and a travel agent. She was a valued member of her community and an active member of the Cathedral of Worship church, where she found great solace and purpose.

Her love for dance was evident from an early age. Shannon honed her skills at Jazz etc. and later brought her talent to the dance team at WIU. Her love for music and dance was a constant source of joy in her life, and she often found herself moving to the tunes of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Shannon’s interests extended to traveling, especially cherished trips to Chicago to visit her sister, which provided her with many fond memories.

Shannon’s presence was a gift to those around her, and she had a knack for making every moment special. She was an excellent cook, known for her delicious breaded chicken and mouth-watering cheesecakes. However, it was the simple moments spent with her daughter and her involvement in her church that truly defined Shannon’s life. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone around her feel loved and valued, and she will be deeply missed.

Friends and Family are invited to Shannon’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will directly follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Rocky Murry officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with Lola’s college fund.
