Sherri Sue Mason, 65, of Quincy, passed away at 6:08 am Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Sherri was born May 16, 1958, in Hull, IL to Constance Sue Throne. She was married to Larry D. Mason on September 8, 1991 in Quincy, IL. He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Gerad L. Epperson (Amanda Lynn Epperson) of Quincy, IL and Shannon Sue Smith of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Ella Epperson of Quincy, Cadence Epperson of Columbia, MO, Grady L. Epperson (Rosa Bernal) of Quincy, and Mila Pannett of St. Louis, MO; four great-grandchildren, Nova Lee, Drea, Georgia, and Adalia Lee; and one sister, Mitzi Inman.

Sherri was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Mason; her mother, Constance Sue Schroeder; and her sister, Rindy Johnson.

Sherri worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a tech processor for 21 years.

Sherri’s zest for life was evident in her many interests and hobbies. She was an outdoor enthusiast who found joy in camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. A passionate sports fan, she rooted for the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals with unwavering support. Sherri’s competitive spirit shone through in her love for mini golf, particularly at Sawyer’s Creek, and bowling at Casino Lanes.

Travel was one of Sherri’s delights, with Branson, MO, and Las Vegas ranking among her favorite destinations. She relished the excitement of playing slots and the thrill of new experiences. Music was a constant in Sherri’s life, with REO Speedwagon holding a special place in her heart after attending their concerts ten times. The sounds of 38 Special and Ted Nugent often filled her home, creating a soundtrack to her life’s moments.

Sherri’s talents extended to the kitchen, where she was a wonderful cook known for her delicious meatloaf, shepherd’s pie, and pot roast. Her culinary skills brought comfort and joy to family gatherings, leaving a legacy of recipes and warm memories.

Above all, Sherri cherished the time spent with her family. She was a fun and loving grandma, whose presence brought laughter and happiness to those around her. Her spirit of fun and love of life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends and Family are invited to Sherri’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A funeral ceremony will directly follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL.

Pallbearers will be Grady Epperson, Larry Mason, Richie Edlemon, Gerad Epperson, Elijah Epperson, and Rosa Bernal.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
