Steve Sharp – O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home

Sharp-Steve

Steve Sharp, 67, of Quincy, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at his home in Quincy, IL.

Steve was born June 3, 1957, in Versailles, Kentucky to Tipton and Anna Lee (Waehter) Sharp. Steve’s life was enriched by his loving marriage to Katrina Bergman. The couple united in matrimony on February 23, 1991, in Quincy, IL, and together they built a life filled with joy. Katrina survives him, carrying forward the legacy of their love.

Together, they raised a beautiful family, and Steve took immense pride in his role as a father and grandfather. He is survived by his five children, Jayme Ellis (Roy), Lori Sharp, Megan Thornton (Chris), Stephen R. Sharp (Mackenzie), and Tipton A. Sharp. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren, Dustin Devlin (Ethan), Charlize Ellis, Hailey Ellis, Lillie Ellis, Andrew Hastings, Steven Conner, Brayden Thornton, and Avery Thornton, who will carry forward his lessons and love.

Steve’s family circle extends to his brother, Rick Sharp (Velma), his brother-in-law, Kent Bergman (Lisa), his sister-in-law, Kate Bergman, and his four special nieces, Sabrina Bergman, Miranda Thornhill, Scarlet Bergman, and Rhianna Bergman. Preceding him in death were his parents, Tipton and Anna Lee Sharp, and his parents-in-law, Bob and Betty Bergman.

A proud graduate of Harrison High School in 1975, Steve’s work ethic was evident throughout his career as a laborer at Hollister Whitney, where he remained until his retirement in 2020.

Steve’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. From his youthful days playing baseball to his time on a men’s slow pitch team, he loved the camaraderie and challenge of sports. His competitive spirit found outlets in poker games, bowling leagues, and golf rounds at Cedar Crest Country Club. Steve’s aim was true whether he was swinging a golf club or throwing darts in the many leagues he participated in around town.

A fan of the simple pleasures in life, Steve could often be found unwinding in front of the TV, watching westerns or rooting for his favorite teams-the Cincinnati Reds, Kentucky Wildcats basketball, or the Dallas Cowboys. His loyal companion, Bob the King Cavalier, was often by his side, sharing in these moments.

Above all, Steve was a family man. His greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his loved ones. Whether it was a family gathering, a holiday celebration, or just an ordinary day, Steve made each moment count. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be cherished forever by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Friends and Family are invited to Steve’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL.
