Steven Kenneth “Rollo” Carder – Hansen-Spear

Steven Kenneth “Rollo” Carder, age 68, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in his home.

Rollo was born on July 3, 1956 in Quincy, the son of Kenneth F. and Barbara R. Dridos Carder.

Rollo was a 1974 graduate of Quincy High School. Over the years, Rollo had been employed by a number of companies in Quincy including: Kirlin’s Wholesale, Park Bowl, Casino Starlight, and Ted’s Shirt Shack.

However, he was best known for Rollo Sound. Rollo owned and operated his business, Rollo Sound, for over 50 years. As a sound engineer, he provided audio support for live music events throughout the Quincy area. Over the years, he worked with a wide range of performers, from local bands to nationally touring acts. He was a familiar and trusted figure in the local music scene and was known for his steady professionalism and reliable expertise.

Rollo was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.

Survivors include three children: Melinda “Mindy” (Mark) Quinlan of Macomb, IL; Stephanie (Ricardo) Contreras of Decatur, IL; and Braydan (Tori Snyder) Carder of Quincy; seven grandchildren: Amber (Sarah) Reese, Carson Reese, Emma Quinlan, Lucas Quinlan, Erica Contreras, Ricky Contreras, and Alex Contreras; his sister, Sharon (Robbie) Baker; and four nieces.

Rollo was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with J.P. Snyder officiating.

Burial: Private inurnment will take place at Greenmount Cemetery.
